Cargill needed to add electrical transformers to their plant.  Because the plant is so old, there is not much room or structure to add heavy equipment.  Working with Arsee engineers, a 100% welded platform was designed that would support the weight while matching existing structures.

Company Profile

Cargill is an international producer and marketer of food, agricultural, financial and industrial products and services. Founded in 1865, the privately held company employs 160,000 people in 67 countries.

Technical Situation

Roof access to the area is difficult due to live rail spurs that run along the back of the building.  The tracks further complicated issues because of the need to add foundation for the East side of the platform  Installing a 100% welded structure on the roof meant that the roof was going to have to be very protected to prevent damage during hot work.  Maddox worked to overcome all of these and other challenges to give the customer the right solution.

Trades Required

Welders, Millwrights

Solution

Maddox scheduled work around the rail lines to times that the rails would be empty—sometimes having to work in the dark to do excavation and concrete.  The platform design was enhanced to take crane use to a minimum, which meant less time that employees had to stay out of lift areas.  The project was completed on time and on budget with little disturbance to production and distribution.

Benefits

It is easy to take a set of plans, bid the work, and do the job.  But when your focus is purely on what the customer needs and how to give them a good experience while the job goes on, Maddox is able to give our customers a completely unique experience and a better quality installation.
